The graduate certificate in Sustainable Fisheries is designed for students who are pursuing advanced degrees in other areas and whose course of study includes a substantial element of fisheries-related coursework or research. The certificate will provide recognition of their expertise in this subject matter and encourages further studies in fisheries.
The Sustainable Fisheries graduate program will address global challenges in fisheries and marine resource management through interdisciplinary coursework. With a focus on Pacific Island fisheries, the program integrates social, ecological, cultural, and economic training, approaches, and values to prepare the next generation of fisheries scientists and professionals.

Requirements
A total of 15 credits is required for the graduate certificate in Sustainable Fisheries, including completion of a culminating experience. The expected length of this program is one year. The culminating experience may be the student’s fisheries-related thesis or dissertation, or a paper and presentation relating the research in their primary degree program to fisheries. The certificate is awarded upon completion of the advanced degree in the student’s primary field of study. |
