The combined BA/MLISc is intended to allow students who wish to apply their technical skills to professional information service environments to complete the BA in ICS and the MLISc in Library & Information Science in 5 years, plus one summer course. To be admitted into the program, students must submit the Graduate Admissions Application as well as all required program admission materials specified in the “Graduate Study” section by the start of their junior year (5th semester).

Students pursuing this combined degree should meet the degree requirements for the BA in ICS and MLISc. Double counted courses
The following courses can be double-counted in BA in ICS and MLISc. The minimum grade requirement for LIS 601 is B (not B-) or better. 5-Year Plan

Notes: Students need to have a degree proposal approved by an ICS advisor prior to declaring a major in ICS. Students must incorporate all focus requirements into this plan. Focus designations (i.e., W, E, O, H) are CRN specific & semester specific. Minimum 45 upper division (300+ course) credits are required. Students must take placements exams to register for MATH 215 or MATH 241 . Substitution allowed: (MATH 301 and MATH 372 ) can be substituted for (ICS 141 and ICS 241 ). LIS 602 , LIS 615 , LIS 645 , LIS 651 , or LIS 659 can be substituted for LIS 605 . LIS students must attend an uncredited workshop series in their first semester as grounding for the ePortfolio capstone. LIS 601 , LIS 605 , and LIS 630 can be counted toward AOC elective requirements. AOC Elective 300+ an area of concentration in the approved proposal. Plan A students must complete 6 credits of LIS 700 as electives, 4 credits may be substituted with LIS 699 . To enroll in MATH 242 , students must meet a grade of B or better in MATH 215 . To enroll in MATH 252A , students must meet a grade of B or better in MATH 252A . |
