Students may apply for a dual-credit program leading to a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master’s of Education in Educational Psychology. In their senior year, BAM students will be dual-enrolled in the two programs and will take 9 credits (PSY 489 /EDEP 489 or PSY 449 ; EDEP 601 ; EDEP 608 ) that will count for both the BA and MEd. Students can complete their MEd in their fifth year. Interested students may apply for the program after taking the gateway course PSY 301 /EDEP 311 and receiving a B or better. For more information, contact the Department of Educational Psychology (coe.hawaii.edu/edep/programs/med/) or the psychology advising office at psychology.manoa.hawaii.edu/undergraduate-advising/.

Admission to MEd in EDEP Spring
BA Psychology projected Total Credits 151
Notes: - This is a sample plan to finish both a BA and MEd in five years, which assumes that students start their studies in a fall semester.
- In general, a student would apply to the MEd program during their “second-semester junior” semester, and in their “first-semester senior” semester, they would be admitted to the MEd program via the pathway and would be allowed to begin taking double-counted 600-level courses.
- EDEP 311 * is the gateway course for the pathway, which requires a grade of ‘B’ or better.
- Courses marked with ** are those that are double-counted for both the BA and MEd. For all three courses double-counted toward the MEd, the student must earn grades of ‘B’ or better. An overall GPA of 3.0 is also required.
- EDEP 601 can be taken either in the fall of the last year of the BA degree or in the summer before fall admission. EDEP 601 taken during the summer session prior to the fall term of admission can be also double-counted. If taken in the summer, Outreach College would charge tuition at the undergraduate level.
- The Elective 400+ ♦ in is in excess of the BA requirements and will count toward the MEd in Educational Psychology. The Educational Psychology Graduate Chair must approve this course, and students should submit a petition to Graduate Division during the registration period for the credits intended for submission toward the MEd.
- With the double-counted courses, the actual minimum number of total credits taken by students is 142, but the “Total Credits” earned after completion of the MEd is 151, reflecting 121 credits earned for the BA and 30 credits earned for the MEd.
