ERTH 323 - Physics of Earth and Planets

(3 Lec, 1 3-hr Lab) Essentials of geophysics: application of physics understanding Earth, planetary, and solar dynamics. Topics include heat flow, gravity, geodesy, electromagnetism, seismology. Applications to core and mantle dynamics, plate tectonics, volcanoes, hydrology, environmental concerns, and archaeology.
Prerequisites: ERTH 250 , ERTH 303 , ERTH 313 , MATH 242 , and PHYS 272 , PHYS 272L ; or consent.
